I believe it's just over 2 years since the original post, when there weren't as many contributors to this forum as there are now. I, for one, didn't join till 8 months later. I note too that the OP never responded to the request for more details. One can reasonably conclude from this that the OP found an answer and never bothered posting back. That's not the same as saying no-one was able to solve the problem.

Whenever you open a mailmerge main document or a mailmerge template, Word should display a prompt asking whether you want it to run the SQL query that the document has been configured with. You won't get that query with an output document, though, as it doesn't contain the SQL statement (just the merged data).
