symbols beside text like in onenote?
in onenote, you can press ctrl and 1, ctrl and 2, ctrl and 3, etc to make certain symbols appear to the left of the line you are typing. is there any way to do this in microsoft word? i know i can insert a symbol, but i am trying to figure out if it is possible to get it essentially in the margin.
more specifically, i am making an outline using indents, and i would like to put a star (or something) next to the really important points. since i am using indents, there is often a significant amount of space to the left where a symbol could fit. however, i can't click on that space and enter a symbol. ugh. i am already using bold, italics, and larger type for other things, so i dont want to use those to denote these important points. tyia
