I've been having a problem with printing from Word 2007 for some time now. Generally when I click the printer icon I get no message but other times I get an error (can't replicate at the moment so can't quote). If I select print from the Office button dropdown nothing happens.

I've tried:

• Uninstall and reinstall of Office
• Uninstall and reinstall of the printer driver
• A MS FixIt I found that looked like it might help (Reg fix)
• System restore (which fixed the problem temporarily

I seem to be able to print from any other program but not Word.

Just in case it is related, I have also recently had a problem opening saved documents but that seems to have gone away, probably with the reinstall.

One other issue I currently have, again probably not related but just in case, my virus checker (Avast) is failing to update and I can't fix that either.

Running Office 2007 on XP with a Canon MP600 printer.

Anyone got any good ideas - please, its driving me mad!!!
