Hi jomarie,
You really don't need a macro for this - all you need is a FILENAME field, which you can place in the Normal template's footer. Word's Normal template is stored in the folder referred to under File|Options|Advanced > File Locations > User templates. If you choose File|Open, avigate to that location and set the file type to 'All Word templates', you should see a template file named 'Normal' there. Open that, go to the footer and insert the FILENAME field. You can do this via Insert|Quick parts|Field. You'll also need to format the footer text as 8pt. I prefer to shortcut this by going to the footer and pressing Ctrl-F9 to create a pair of field braces (ie {}) and typing 'FILENAME \p \* Charformat' between them, so that you end up with {FILENAME \p \* Charformat}, format the 'F' as 8pt text, then press F9 to update. This approach also means anything else you might want to put into the footer won't be formatted as 8pt text.
