First of all, a conventional uninstall of a program still leaves certain Registries plugged in that "remembers," e.g., why when you uninstall a program to run for a trial simply reinstalling the program remembers
With a paid product such as Office, Registries still "remember" certain set-ups
Therefore, what I uninstall with is a FREE program from Revo, which cleans out everything:
Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs, Solve uninstall problems
When asked, make sure you click you want EVERYTHING including Registries cleaned out so you will get a virgin reinstall
But before uninstalling/reinstalling, I would do a System Restore back to a time Word was working correctly, if it ever did
If the above fails, then we can work from a virgin copy of Word installed
