Unhappy Word 2010 - F4/Ctrl+Y functions has short memory

Hi.
First off I apologize if this has been answered before, but I had no luck in searching.

My peeve is that the F4 function seems to forget the last command in a short period of time. I use this key A LOT and in Word 2002, as long as the PC didn't go to sleep, F4 would remember the last command. Word 2010 seems to not have much of a short-term memory; it only lasts about 2 minutes, regardless of the fact that I might have pressed it TWO seconds before it decides to forget. It's kind of acting like Excel has always acted... cares about what you did, but only for a short period of time, then, one cannot Undo/Redo anything. At least Word has kept the entire history of Undo for the current session.

Well, I hope someone has a solution, or at least an explanation...

TIA.
Cheers!
