If it's the same 'other' document that opens whenever you start Word, that suggests someone has saved a document over Word's 'Normal' template. The simplest way to fix this is to check where Word's 'Normal' template is stored (on a PC you'd find this via Word Options > Advanced > General > File Locations > User templates), then close Word, navigate to the 'Normal' template's folder and delete the template. Word will create a new one when it re-starts. You'll lose any Word customisations you might have made, though. The alternative is to open the template (via File > Open, choose 'All Word templates' from the 'type' dropdown, then navigate to the 'Normal' template's folder and select the template), then delete the unwanted content & save the template.
