Default List style numbering default to always restart at 1

Hello!

Do you know if it's possible to make list style numbering to always restart at number 1?

Here's the thing: If I write a long document with lots of lists that are not related to eachother. I can right-click on the number and choose "restart numbering". That's just fine. BUT: When I add again a new separate list somewhere in the middle of the document, Word thinks that the next list in document (which I have before already restarted at 1) is part of that new list, and changes the numbering there again.

Example:

...This is a text in the middle of the document where I have a list
1. first item
2. second item
3. third item
And the text continues...

Now I add a new list above that.

...There is now more text here and new list added
1. new first item
This is a text in the middle of the document where I have a list
2. first item
3. second item
4. third item
And the text continues...

Again, I can go to the number 2 and select restart numbering. But the document may be really long, and the list somewhere many pages ahead, so it's easy to miss that by accident.

So, if there is a way to prevent that happening, please let me know
