I've encountered an extremely frustrating issue with the form fields in MS Word 2007.

When I create a new form, I edit the appearance of that from while in Design mode. For example, when you create a new form, it appears in the default font of Calibri, size 11, gray color, with the text "Click here to enter text". I go into design mode and change what it says, as well as the color, size, and font. I also highlight the two tabs that surround the form field, which I figured out is what controls the font of the text that will be entered. For example, while in Design mode, I can change the appearance of the form field to 20 size font, colored pink and bold, and if I select the tabs surrounding the form field I can change the format so that when the user enters text, the text is entered as a normal, 12 size, Arial, black font.

This works while I have the template open. I can change the appearance of the fields, and change what the text will look like that is entered into that field. The problem comes when I save and close the template.

If I reopen the template, the text which is entered changes from black to light gray color.

This is very strange because it only happens with random fields throughout the document. Some of them stay black, others are changed.

I tried completely recreating the template from scratch, and the issue still occurs. Oddly, it's the exact same fields that have the error. Even from a brand new, completely fresh document that is turned into a template..

I don't understand why it would do this. At first I thought it was some sort of hidden font setting from other forms, because I had been copying and pasting them into new templates as I made them, but that doesn't explain why the problem would occur in a brand new document with form fields created from scratch.

I tried using the format option in the "Properties" menu when you select the field, which is basically the same as selecting the tabs in design mode. Even using the style from the properties menu, the same issue occurs. Even if the form field is set to format text to a specific stlye, it ignores that.

I have searched all over online...I only came across one forum where someone had posted a similar issue, but it was never answered. This glitch also happens on word 2010. I sent the document to my home computer to open it up and experiment on word 2010, and the same issue occured.

Some additional information:

I'm using a couple of Document Property form fields, to automatically enter information in multiple spots, however most of the fields that have the issue i described are simple Text form fields inserted from the Developer tab.

Any help would be appreciated.

Using form fields is basically pointless when you have to still waste time to change formats after you've entered your information..
