Default letterhead design with column and borders

Hello

I’m trying to create a letterhead for my resume and my cover letter .
While browsing through books and website 2 design catched my eye ....
The problem is I’m unable to create either of them !
(see jpg for each of the original design , word file for my own version of the first design . I'm using the original information for clarity

, I obviously intend to change that later )

For the first design (my favorite ): I figured out there was a mix of a 2 column design and smart use of tab . The power of this design lies in the right column which stops the border while staying in line with the text on the right . I think it’s a very sharp professional design . But I can’t pinpoint the exact order of column and tab the autor used . The way I see it the author used a 2 column design on the first two lines then switched to a one column design from there and used tab to justify on the right . When I do it Either the top border appears on the right column and not on the left or I get the top border right but I can’t write anything in the secund column without messing with the text below the top border . Basically I have either everything right but the 972-455-9383 phone number part or I have the 972-455-9383 part right

For the secund design : I bet it's a pretty simple but I don’t know how to create border on each side of a expression . Is it a three column design ?
