Hi Paul,
Control H goes to the replace tab in the "Find and Replace" dialog. I'm looking to go to the first tab, "Find." That is the command called "Advanced Find" in the list of all commands. Like I said, I've tried pressing the binoculars on my ribbon and choosing it from the drop-down menu while I'm in the macro record mode, but neither works.
As to the normal.dot problem, it has to do with the Acrobat toolbar loaded into Word 2010. Here are a couple of sites talking about it:

which jumps to: http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adob...at_toolbar.htm

Thanks!
