Yes, have tried Control (it triggers a pop-up copy/cut/paste window), cmd, alt, nothing works and the TOC shows no sign that it is hyerlinked.

As mentioned, completely separately I tried recording a simple macro and found that 'select all' commands were recorded but not the 'find/replace'. So something odd is occurring.
