Have you tried repairing Word (Word Options|Resources|Diagnose)?

If that doesn't work, exit Word, go to Start > Run and input:
winword.exe /regserver
then press Enter.

If that doesn't work, exit Word, go to Start > Run and input:
regedit
then press Enter to start the Registry Editor. Then find the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\W ord\Data
and delete it. Exit the Registry Editor and re-start Word.
