Unfortunately, It's not entirely clear why your Outlook is crashing when you select your Mobile Contacts. Its possible the two are not synchronized properly and causing Outlook to crash. Although i use a MAC i do not use Itunes to synchronize my contacts and calendar information with my Outlook 2011.

An exchange Service is not something that can just be configured in house. It is recommend you look into an Exchange Hosted Provider.Most providers have low rates and provide real time synchronization of all of your Email, contact and calendar data.

The company that hosts my Exchange service even provides 24 hour technical support and can aid in migrating your data to their service.
