Fascinating. Somehow when you deleted out the disappear animation it still stayed in the file. I looked at your file and I see the same issue. I removed both animations and then selected the circle group and applied the appear animation. Then I selected the shape group and applied the appear animation. It works as expected now. None of my settings were different from your attached presentation. I would just remove those animations and apply them again. Something just broke but it's an easy fix.
