Reapplying style removes underline from one phrase
Very puzzling situation. I have a large number of defined paragraph styles for a large document. Document has 100s of data field names. These names are always underlined regardless of their context. When document is generated from the database, everything is underlined correctly. However, document generation program does not apply the pagination settings (Keep With Next) of the assigned style. Opening Style menu bar and clicking on the highlighted style (the one assigned) applies the pagination settings, but removes the underlining from ONE PARTICULAR NAME. It does not happen for any other name. In the center of this name are the characters " / " and if the spaces are removed, and a period or space or comma (all I tried) placed at end of paragraph, this issue does not occur. Again, it only does it with this one particular name. Note that the cursor is not in any underlined portion of the paragraph.
Ok, I think I've solved it, but still very curious. Word creates a character style when any characters within a paragraph are given additional formatting. By right clicking on that character style to modify, then rename and save as a defined style, the issue seems to go away. Heading home for the weekend. Thanks for your time. jfish
