Question How to create a pdf with links to bookmarked locations which get activated after clicking a table

Hi, I have a file with several bookmarks, but after conversion to PDF I can't use them to jump between bookmarked pages. Can you help me create a file with working, clickable bookmarks which jump to the specified location after conversion to PDF?

In the attached .doc file there are some tables. I wanted for the links to other parts of the same document to work when user clicks anywhere within a table so I've simply added bookmarks in proper locations and then linked them to rectangular shapes with transparent infill that I've drawn over each table (the borders are there temporarily, I will turn them off in the final version).

The attached .jpg image titled "Example struct" shows how I've planned to link the tables.

Next, I've created a .pdf file by clicking:

File-->Export-->Create PDF/XPS-->Optimize for online mode or printing-->Options--> checked "Create bookmarks" and selected "from word bookmarks"-->Ok-->Publish

See attached .jpeg file named "ExportPDF" for clarity.

The attached pdf file is the output file. It does have the bookmarks but I can't activate them by clicking on shapes.

I could swear I've been able to do what I've described above with the same workflow a year ago but I must have overlooked something this time.
