So we have about 200 employees in the field. All on win 11 laptops with office 2021 desktop apps installed.
Earlier in the week a user called and word & excel would crash when trying to open a document (start to open then exit out), next time you get the Did Not Open Properly - Would you like to Open In Safe Mode? prompt.
After some playing around, running quick and long repairs, etc... adding their main folders like documents, desktop, downloads, etc into the trusted location solved the problem. Weird..
Next day 2 other people had the same problem. Also easily solved by adding those folders into Trusted Locations

In the last 48 hours.... 8 more had the problem.

Every time the solution is to add their folders to trusted locations.


They are not connected, then are not centrally controlled systems, these are users running independently on laptops in the field. They are not admin's on their Laptops. There are no viruses or security issues.


It seems like some update to office must be causing this seeing as how its coming up slowly across all our people in the field.
