I'm using MSOffice Standard 2007 on a Win7 64-bit desktop. Recently "Setup" has started running ("Please wait while MSOffice prepares the necessary files") whenever I open a Word document. If I cancel the setup, the document eventually opens. If I let it run, the document eventually opens. If I have an open Word document either on the desktop or minimized, the doc opens without problem. No error messages. I did a 'repair' using an original MSOffice Standard 2007 CD and it says that it completed ok and rebooted...problem still present. It doesn't matter whether I start the doc from a shortcut, by double-clicking on the doc itself, or single-click on the doc and do an OPEN or OPEN WITH. It doesn't matter whether it's in DOC or DOCX format. Sometimes the 'preview' for the doc works, in which case the doc opens without issue. Other times the 'preview' is blank and it insists on doing a 'setup' before opening. I've let them go through the 'setup' and open the docs, edited/saved the doc, closed the doc, then immediately went back to the doc to open it again and it insists on running 'setup' again. (!!) I get the same result whether I'm opening an existing doc or just starting Word with a blank doc..."Please wait while MSOffice prepares the necessary files".
Excel, Outlook etc are unaffected.
I did a search of threads here and found nothing matching this behavior. Has anyone ever seen this before? How did you correct it?
