Thanks for your response. The reason I started a new section on page 2 is because I did not want to show a page number on page 1. Aparently the problem was with having a different first page. Once this was taken out, the styleref field in page 2 also appeared in page4. I added a few more pages and tried to repeat the process to the odd pages starting from page 3, this time using Heading 2 for styleref field. As expected the odd pages display the Heading 2 in the header. The problem I have now is I cannot put the page number field to the extreme right for odd pages on the same line as the styleref field.
