Default Create PDF form from Word

I have to create a fillable PDF form with a number of fileds. I know I can export to PDF from Word, and then edit the PDF in a program like Adobe or Foxit (paid versions) to create the fileds I need. If I later need to change my fixed texts in the PDF, I would go back to my Word document and do the edits, then export to PDF again, and recreate the fields. This may be a cumbersome and nerdy process if I just needed to change a few words (or, actually, if a less IT-savvy colleague just wanted to make slight text changes to a form I've created for them).

I have a process that works better in some ways, but it's using Libre Office instead of Word. Here, I can add the fields as control elements in Libre Office, and they become fields when I export to PDF. Thus, if I edit my odt file and export again, I don't have to recreate my fields. However, it's quite nerdy to do it right in Libre Office, and besides my colleagues do not have Libre Office; they have Word.

MY QUESTION IS, is there a way - say, a Word plugin that I would need to pay for - that I can do the same in Word - i.e., add my fileds IN WORD and export, instead of adding them in a PDF program AFTER the export?
