Default Image imported into word Shape is smaller than the shape and not centered

Hello, All,
I'm trying to place a round image (a globe) into a Word document. I need to retain the transparent background so I have have text wrap around the round image.

I'm attempting this method:
1. Click "Shapes" in the Illustrations group on the Insert tab.
2. Click the shape into which you would like to insert your image. For a circle, insert an oval and drag to the desired shape and size.
3. Drag the shape to the location in your document where you want to place your image. Word inserts the shape into your document.
4. Click the shape to make sure it is active, then click “Drawing Tools” on the Format tab.
5. Click the arrow next to Shape Fill in the Shape Styles group on the Format tab. Click “Picture” on the menu that appears.
6. Browse to the location on your computer where your image is saved. Click the image once to select it, then click the “Insert" button. Word inserts your image into the shape you dragged into the document in Step 3.

This works but the image is always reduced to a smaller size than the circular shape, and it is not centered. I need it the same size, and centered.
I desperately need to find a way to insert the image while retaining the transparent background. If there's a way to do this, either by modifying my approach or trying something totally different, please share it with me!
Thanks,
DR
