Outlook 2016 is storing email acc. pw. Otherwise, password is lost, and password reset non-option...
Hi all,
A friend of mine manages a client's email account, and this is done through an installation of Outlook on their old hard drive.
They have since installed a new OS onto a separate drive.
They have to reboot into the old OS installation to access the mailbox of this client.
They don't know the password. The old Outlook installation automatically grants access to the mailbox, and it is able to receive and send emails.
Here's the conundrum: We do not know the password. We are also unable to reset the password as the backup email address is no longer accessible, nor is the phone number.
It is connecting to Microsoft Exchange using SSL, so we cannot use nirsoft tools to find the password.
I imagine that the email account password is stored somewhere on the hard drive as an encrypted and salted hash.
Is there any way to import this over to the new OS installation, or to extract the email account password?
Many thanks in advance,
T
