Note. I tested Graham's suggestion and it does not work, at least on my system. Apparently this feature runs after any AutoOpen macro executes. (I tried also putting a delay into the AutoOpen. That simply delayed the return to the previous editing point but did not stop it.)

I also tried Allen Wyatt's solution in his tips page. I could not get that to do anything either.

Ctrl+Home remains a viable workaround.

Note, this is not the place to get any changes made in Word nor the attention of developers at Microsoft. This is an independent user-to-user support forum. MS does not see anything you post here. The way to get their attention is through the feedback mechanisms.
