Many thanks. While working out what you wrote I came to the conclusion that is I open a document from the Documnets folder. I don't get any boxes and I just need to press with the left button of the mouse.

The problem I had was due to the fact that I was testing with a recent test file that I placed on the Desktop. Then, yes, if I click on it, the boz appears, but if I press OK the box disappears and after a short delay of a few seconds the file opens normally- I tried again by bringing a document onto the Desktop and that box appears. I put the doc back where it belongs and no box comes up.

I hate this Windows11!!!
