Default Multiple Issues with Outlook on Windows 11 using D: drive

I have encountered several issues with Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2211 Build 16.0.15831.20098) 64-bit running on Microsoft Windows 11 Pro Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.1105).

My email is a Gmail account connected via Imap.

I have configured my system with all user files on the D: drive.

  1. Although I have set "When replying to a message that is not in the Inbox, save the reply in the same folder" (in the Mail tab of Options), all outgoing messages are saved in the Sent folder.
  2. Frequently, a message I have read remains in the "Unread" status. Setting the message to the Read status has no effect - it remains in the Unread status. However, setting "Mark all as read" for the folder usually changes the status of the recalcitrant message to Read.
  3. Some of the NEW messages are moved to folders (by my rules) and marked as read. Most are (properly) marked as unread.
  4. Sometimes selecting a folder causes messages newer than the selected message to change from unread to read.
  5. Opening a message and then closing it "changes" the message, so it can't be moved. Selecting a different message, then selecting the original message, "clears" the "changed" state.
  6. Sometimes a message will change to read, and then change back to unread with no user intervention.
  7. Although received messages are displayed well, outgoing messages are displayed with all text tiny (about one eighth the size of text in received messages).
  8. Although I have created a NormalEmail.dotm with a range of styles, the style sheet that is used with messages (although it has the same name) has only a few styles that are nothing like what I want.
Can anybody suggest a cause for this constellation of issues? And can anybody suggest a fix?
