I'm not on a Mac so I don't have a definitive answer for you but from my experience it doesn't appear that you have specified the path correctly

/Users is not the root folder - it is already a few folders down the likely path. You should try the FULL path eg
HardDriveName/something/Users/me/testfolder/image_1a.jpg

On Windows machines, some links require double slashes so that may be something else you could try
Users//me//testfolder//image_1a.jpg
