If your pasted text is the same as it looks when I copy/pasted it into Word, there are double line breaks between those lines.
A couple of ways to check things as shown in the image:
Turn on the "show" (paragraph mark on the Home tab of the ribbon) and you can see the paragraph breaks, line breaks, page breaks, non-printing characters.
Double check that your spacing doesn't have extra space before or after a paragraph.
Turn on the Reveal Formatting (SHIFT + F1 keys), and you'll get that panel on the right that shows your formatting as you move through your document.
