Hi Nic,

When you creata a custom document property, that doesn't put its value into the body of the document. To do that, you insert a field pointing to the custom document property. you can do tha via Insert|Quick Parts|Field. When you select the DOCPROPERTY field option, your custom field should appear in the list. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl-F9 to create a pair of field braces (ie {}) and type 'DOCPROPERTY' followed by your property's name (eg 'Data') so that you end up with {DOCPROPERTY Data} then press F9 to update.
