I have imported external data to my Visio document and it appears in 'External Data' window. I have created data graphic scheme for this external data so that a specific field in the external data is shown as 'Text'. This works fine but the issue is that whenever I drag individual records to page and it automatically assumes the shape that is already selected in the left side shape panel. So there is a shape (e.g. rectangle) and then inside the shape there is a text (it appears as its own text object and not text property of enclosing shape). I can in fact move the text box manually outside that shape , which proves that the text is an independent entity. So basically that enclosing shape is not even required. Text could very well exist on its own , it doesn't need any shape. I don't want any enclosing shape , how do I prevent this ?
