Guessed - Interesting thought! I am running the 64 bit version of Windows 7 (and will absolutely not downgrade to Windows 10). Yes, I could install a 64 bit version of Office, but there was some reason I didn't (and unless I can remember that reason and assess it, I will not change). So, if this is the cause, I assume there isn't anything else I could try to resolve the problem? But if it is the problem, why wasn't I experiencing this challenge years ago? Is it possible that some MS 'upgrade' broke things?
