I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.



So far, I've only come across this problem in my Music and Pictures folders. Example: there's a folder within one of my music folders; it's been there for some time, but as far as I recall it was a temporary one that I set up when I ripped some tracks from a CD, to put the tracks in before I sorted them out ( which I've long since done ). So: I now want to delete the folder. When I try to do so, however, I'm told: 'You'll need to provide administrator permission to delete this folder'. If I click on 'continue', another window comes up which says: 'You need permission to perform this action', followed by: 'You require permission from the computer's administrator to make changes to this folder'. This is just one example; this has happened a number of times along the way and I've just ignored it, but it's starting to annoy me now.


Even setting aside the question of why any given folder should arbitrarily decide that it needs administrator privileges to copy or delete ...



My son built this computer for me some eleven years ago. His user account still exists and shows him as an administrator, which is redundant inasmuch as he hasn't been near it for more than five years ( we now live quite some distance apart ). My own user account also shows me as an administrator ( as it should, since I'm the only person who ever uses this machine ). There is an additional account ( I'm not entirely sure why ) which is just shown as 'administrator'. Regardless of whether I log in under my own account or the 'administrator' account, the same sequence of events occurs. Could it have anything to do with the fact that there are, evidently, three 'administrators' ...? - If so, how do I solve the problem? How do I become the sole administrator and get Windows to recognise the fact that I am the sole administrator??!


As I say, if this was just one sub-folder, I'd turn a blind eye; but it's cropped up a number of times, and in some cases it won't even let me copy pictures, music files or folders to another location, so it does really need to be solved now.
