Settings of the Normal style must match the corresponding settings in the document defaults, for table styles formatting to work properly. This is one of the stranger requirements in Word.
In the sample document, which I am returning here, I have also modified the point size in the table style itself.
There are many confusing combinations of settings between the Normal style, the document defaults, and table styles. The underlying explanation is the convoluted hierarchy of styles and formatting in Word (I do not pretend to understand all the details).
