Hi,
There is a free addin called "Heron PowerPoint Addin" that (among other things) does pretty much what you are asking for. It has a feature called "dynamic links" that allows you to put a series of shapes on one slide and then have them duplicated on other slides. With a click any updates on any of the slides will cascade through all relevant slides.
