Unhappy How to shrink folder list width in Outlook on the Web

I use Outlook on the Web at home. It's the version hosted by MS, I think, outlook.office.com. A few days ago, the display changed. The icons that used to be at the bottom of the screen for email, calendar, etc., were moved, not by me, to a left vertical bar on the far left of the web page. I like that better but when that happened, the list of folders, which is just to the right of it, grew much wider. Now, that list overlays the left side of my list of email messages. If I hover over the edge between the folder list and the message list, the mouse pointer turns to two vertical bars with arrows pointing left and right. However, attempting to drag this to the left to make the folder list narrower does not work. Dragging the pointer does nothing. How can I force the folder list to stop overlaying my message list and be narrower please? Thanks.
