We often need to type long repetitive words/phrases like "proliferative diabetic retinopathy" etc.

So, on my PC, under AutoCorrect and "Replace text as you type", I have set up a few abbreviations eg."pdr" that will replace the latter said long phrase.

There are quite of few of these long phrases, and I was wondering if all the PC's could share a "central database" of these abbreviations, so that we don't have to add them individually on each PC. (Every so often we add new ones too).
The answer, to the question asked, is "NO." You cannot share AutoCorrects.

You could, though, use AutoText in Global Templates. Those could be shared fairly easily.

My favorite method on a network is to have them saved on the network drive and downloaded to each user's Word Startup Folder as a part of the network login.
  1. You would give the AutoText entries unique names - your abbreviations.
  2. When the abbreviation is typed, pressing the Enter key inserts the full text.
  3. The F3 key will do the same.
