Question Using Material Resources and % Complete to Calculate Cost-to-Date

I have tried (unsuccessfully) several times in the past to get MS Project to align with the workflow/billing process for my company.

We invoice exclusively on prorated material costs-- in our case, how many cubic yards of material was moved from the start of a project to current date.

Normally, (outside of MS Project,) we would either use % Complete of the total material OR (units moved)/(total units).

Since MSP doesn't accept additional decimals in the % Complete field, I assume there would be a way to input however many units of material were moved to date to calculate Cost to Date, but I cannot for the life of me figure it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
