Default Excel Table as an OLE object issue

On my computer, up until this point, I have been able to insert an Excel table into a Word document, and get it to work really smoothly. If I needed to edit the table, a double-click opened it up and I could modify it, in the Word document, and if I needed to change how much of the table showed, I was able to just expand the view to include the new rows or columns I needed to add.

This week, I got a new machine, and am trying to modify a document. When I click on the table in the Word doc, Excel pops up - but it's the full Excel window. I can still do the modifications there, but there's no way to change the view in the Word document. So it seems to me that there's something not quite right with the way OLE is functioning here, but I don't know how to fix it. Any suggestions?
