Default How to remove Hebrew format (Right to Left) in Comments?

Hi everyone, thanks for any help. I'm using Word 2007, and a client has sent me a docx file to edit and proofread, for which I use Track Changes.
The client has already translated the original document, which was written in Hebrew, into English, but whenever I try to insert Track Changes Comments the text is writing right to left. Other smaller anomalies occur. They're doing my head in!
In a previous (fiction) document I worked around the problem by dumping everything into Notepad after carefully noting any italics, etc, then re-copying it into a new document and manually reapplying the italics.
But this is a self-help book with loads and loads of italics, bold, bullet points ... you name it. It's an impossibility to manually note all the different formatting which my "Notepad" method would erase.
Later versions of Word seem to have a left-to-right or right-to-left button, but I'm seeing nothing in Word 2007. Selecting a different language in the Style Options for the Comments Text (default is Hebrew) to English makes it type backwards!
Can anyone suggest a method of "cleaning out" the Hebrew formatting without also losing the italics, etc? Or basically just cutting it back to standard italics/bold/ types of formatting.
Even if it means asking the client to resave the document with specific settings?

Thanks again, G.
