Have a look at your settings in:
File > Options > Save
File > Options > Advanced > Save

Is there anything there that might imply a reason for slow saves? Background saves used to be ridiculously slow for instance. Also if files are being saved to OneDrive or Sharepoint then I would expect that to be pretty slow.
