Thank you for your prompt reply. I knew about the Quick Parts option for inserting page numbers but didn't know about the keyboard option (although I know there's a ka-zillion key options). I need to be able to demo page number blocks (aka - agreed, eye candy) so I needed a solution. Unfortunately none of the options suggested in your links worked (erasing building blocks). Solution was to repair Office 365. From Control Panel > Programs and Features > Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus > Change >Yes > Online Repair (I chose the slower online option vs. Quick Repair).
