Default MS Outlook 2016 Notes date written lost

Hi I have been using MS Notes to record my time when adding material to a website. I have not dated the notes as Notes displays the date they are written in a footer. Owing to Covid-19 I have been getting behind on invoicing my clients. So I thought that I would add a subfolder for the 2020 notes. So I added the 2020 notes to the subfolder. I then found that each of the notes had changed the date to todays date. The original notes are now missing in the main folder and I can't find a way of restoring them. Does anyone know how I can reverse the Notes to the previous state?

UPDATE: the oriignal dates are still displpayed in the list but when I try to open one it shows todays date.
