Essentially you can't do both. Either obey the accessibility test or have the image running to the edges of the page. However, you can design the content so you still have the information 'visible' to all users.

In terms of accessibility, what description do you have associated with the image? If you put that description in the footer as text and then place the image over the top of it but floating then you will achieve the aims of 'accessibility'. The sighted will be able to see the image, the screen reader will be able to read the text.
