Thanks to everyone for the helpful suggestions. I appreciate all of them. It turns out that she was having strange problems with Excel and PowerPoint. Our IT department re-installed Office, and that resolved the TOC page number problem. (Unfortunately, it did not resolve the Excel and PowerPoint problems.) Thank you, again!
