If you use a common file to save your macros, it will be called Personal and have an extension such as xls, xlsm or xlsb. It lives in your Excel start up folder which on Vista is:
C:\Users\
user name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Excel\XLStart

Templates in Vista are generally stored under:
C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

If the template is being used as a basis for creating new workbooks then it will be saved in your XL start up folder.
