I checked and I don't have tracking on, but turning it on then off again seemed to kind of help? The captions themselves have mostly fixed in that they're not duplicating anymore, but the numbering had changed so that instead of being four of "Figure 3.18," it would have Figure 3.18-3.21. After manually deleting the superfluous captions from each figure in the body of the text and updating all fields in the document, the captions don't duplicate, but the formatting in the list of figures is completely out of wack (figure numbers are out of order, figure numbers are duplicating, and the captions are duplicating even though the figure in the body of the document doesn't show duplicated captions).
