In your screen shot, level 2 in the multilevel list is selected. Just delete what's in the "Enter formatting for number" box for that level. Use the "Include previous level number" drop down to (re-)add level 1, type the period, and then choose a number format for the current level. Following these steps should suffice, unless there are other issues with the number format as well.
