Default Mail Merge to Email - Conditional Hyperlink Getting Changed to Invalid Local Path

Hi all,

I've been wrestling with Word for a while now trying to create a clickable hyperlink that varies depending on the value of a given field in the data source. This is for use in an email merge.

I've gotten as far as this:
Quote:
{ HYPERLINK {IF { MERGEFIELD }="" "google.com" "bing.com" {SET keepme1 1} }\* MERGEFORMAT }
What's happening at this point is that I switch the formatting back (Shift+F9) and the hover-text/URL becomes a modified, invalid local path that seems to merge my target URL with the location of my Word document. Here's an example:

Anyone have any suggestions for how to avoid this strange issue?

Thanks!

P.S. These are the steps/instructions I've followed thus far:
Basic hyperlink set-up: email mail merge in Office 2010 with hyperlinks | originaldougal
