Default How to view the names of "linked" contacts under the notes field

I haven't used Outlook in years but when I did, I would link contacts together as shown in the properties dialog, and I could see them in the field that was visible under the notes field. Unfortunately that field was not visible by default, and had to be activated. I have forgotten how and can't find information on it.

Help about linking contacts together points to another function which I don't like or use because once linked, I can't seem to view the linked items separately and also it's not what I'm looking for. I just want to associate contacts that should otherwise remain separate items in my contacts.

Hopefully someone remembers what I'm talking about because tech support couldn't.
