Hi,

I also write poetry and normally used Open Office. When I recently started using Word to write I discovered this new problem where word counts blank lines. My solution is to use Open Office to count the lines in my poems as this program has a check box option in the line numbering box, which you can uncheck to stop counting 'blank lines'. It's too complicated for me to have to set up styles etc.
